Police are investigating what may be a homicide at 431-433 Broadway this morning.


A middle-aged white male with an obvious head wound was found outside the appartment building this morning at about 5 a.m.


Police said the man was found in the roadway between the two apartment buildings.


A witness, who asked that her name not be used, told the Boston Herald she spotted the body at daybreak. The man was “on his back, with his underpants pulled down to his ankles,” she said.


Someone else in the neighborhood covered up the man’s exposed body, she added.


The state Medical Examiner’s office was called to the scene this morning to transport the body away. An autopsy is expected to be conducted today.


Sources told the Herald the autopsy is key in determining the cause of death. The man was discovered with a pool of blood around his head.


A person on the scene said the body appeared to have been placed there. According to public safety officials, the man man have been dead for hours.


Lt. Paul Upton of the Somerville Police said the victim had been tentitavely identified, but his name is not being released at the time.
