The search is expanding from the West Coast to the East Coast for a Versailles, Mo., man accused of sexually assaulting a relative, Morgan County Sheriff Jim Petty said.

Authorities originally believed 39-year-old Clint Eddy was headed to stay with friends or contacts in the state of California to avoid arrest. Now they think he’s headed east to New York. Petty said Eddy has a sister who lives there.

The sheriff’s department contacted law enforcement authorities there, letting them know to be on the lookout, Petty said.

“Anybody that runs his license plates or driver’s license will be alerted about the warrant,” Petty said.

Eddy was charged with multiple felony counts of rape, sodomy and sexual intercourse with a person less than 14 years old on July 2. An arrest warrant was issued the same day.

According to court documents, the victim’s mother reported the case to authorities.

The victim said she had been assaulted several times through the month of June. If she refused, he threatened to kill her or her family.

Eddy is on parole for first-degree robbery.

Officials believe he is driving a red 1996 Jeep Laredo sports utility vehicle with Missouri license plates 471-YJL.

He also has friends in the cities of Fortuna and Springfield, Mo., in addition to family in California and New York.

Eddy is 6-foot-3 and weighs about 230 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department at 573-378-5481, or dial 911.
