Chamber sponsoring community-wide holiday lights contest
Redwood Area Chamber & Tourism is sponsoring a community-wide holiday lights contest this year. Chamber Executive Director Anne Johnson said they’re excited to offer a new holiday tradition. “I’s something the whole community can enjoy, and supports shopping local with Chamber Bucks,” Johnson said.
The contest is called Sleigh Your Neighbors 2020. “Get ready for some friendly competition with our 1st annual community-wide holiday lights contest, running now through Dec. 23,” reads the contest announcement on the Chamber’s website. “We’ll have multiple divisions, both commercial and residential, with Chamber Bucks for prizes.” The prizes offered include:
Residential, $25 in Chamber Bucks:
1. Classic Christmas — not too over the top, a few lights and call ‘er done.
2. It’s a “Hallmark” or “It’s a Wonderful Life” (depends on your generation) Christmas — lots of glow here.
3. Over the Top Christmas — wow, just wow!
Group Residential, $50 Chamber Bucks to share:
Holiday Block Party — these neighbors know how to make a neighborhood look festive! (Have at least four neighbors on the same block enter the competition.)
Commercial, $50 Chamber Bucks to share:
#SupportLocal — These organizations love our community and like to support community activities.
To get in on this fun project complete the form found on the Chamber’s website. Your location will be listed on the map and you’ll have a chance to be recognized with one of the above awards and win some Redwood Chamber Bucks. Names will not be listed on the map, only the street address.
The form is found at: redwoodfalls.org/holiday-lights-registration/Also on the Chamber website announcement: Aren’t into hanging by your toenails to put up a bunch of lights you just have to take down in a month? Load up your fam in the car and use our #RedwoodArea “Sleigh Your Neighbors” Holiday Lights Map to enjoy the lights. (The map is coming soon to the Chamber website.)
Sleigh Your Neighbors Holiday Light Contest Winners will be announced on Dec. 24 on the Chamber’s Facebook Page.
