Update: Turkey Trot 5K in Redwood Falls changed to virtual event

Given the nature of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s order restricting activities (including social events that are outside... like a 5k,) the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot scheduled for Nov. 26 in Redwood Falls can not proceed as originally planned.

That said, the event is being held – albeit in a virtual mode.

According to Chris Schmitz, director of Youth for Christ in Redwood Falls, the needs of both the local food shelf and for ministry to teens (now dealing with isolation more than ever before) have only increased exponentially.

This year, folks are being asked to participate by walking/running that morning on a treadmill or through their own neighborhood and then posting a photo on the Facebook event page at www.facebook.com/events/273716720740537, or e-mail it to Chris@yfcminnesota.com and he will post it.

Participants are also asked to include a message about what they are thankful for this year.

It may be more important than ever to spread hopefulness and positivity.

Registration forms can still be found at at https://forms.gle/YLFGASzEmaiQSEbG6 and participants are also encouraged to collect some food items. Items and payment may be left at Functional Fitness in RedwoodFalls, or they may be mailed to YFC P.O. Box 144, Redwood Falls, MN, 56283.
