Update: Texas teen injured in grain bin accident near Hector identified

On Sept. 14, 2020, at approximately 10:38 a.m., the Renville County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a farm accident that had occurred on the 49000 block of 740th Ave. in Renville County approximately five miles south of Hector in Martinsburg Township.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Jed Anderson, 15, from Lubbock, Texas, was 15 feet off the ground, working on a grain dryer when his legs became entangled in an auger.

The juvenile male was trapped in the auger and needed to be extricated.

The juvenile was eventually extricated from the grain dryer and transported to Hennepin County Medical Center by North Memorial Air Care with serious injuries.

Assisting on the scene were the Hector Fire Department, Hector Ambulance, Olivia Area Technical Rescue Team and North Memorial Air Care.

The Renville County Sheriff’s Department is continuing its investigation of this incident.
