Steven Jeffrey Dahmes

Steven Jeffrey Dahmes, child of God, went home to our Lord on January 14, 2022 in the afternoon surrounded by his wife and children. Steve was born October 18, 1960 to Roland and Virginia (Finfrock) Dahmes. Steve was very active in sports and music in high school where he met his wife Geri in 1977. They were married on June 5, 1981 in Redwood Falls. They had 3 beautiful children, Tony (Sarah) Dahmes, Benjamin (Nicole) Dahmes and Cassandra (Nick) Olson. He was blessed with 9 grandchildren, Sammantha Dahmes 18, Hayley, 17, Lucas 7, Grace 3, Jackson Dahmes 6, Adalynn 1, Elaine Olson, 10, Zoey 6, Emma 3.

After getting married, Steve worked the family farm for 26 years. During that time, he had great pride in watching his boys play baseball, football, and wrestling. He made a point to make it to every game even if it meant having to stay in the field past dark. As his children grew older, he was able to develop his artistic side and participated in Redwood Area Theater along with his daughter Cassandra. When the farm sold, he continued his love of farming by helping the Peterson’s with their fall harvest for several years. When farming was done, he became an assistant manager at the local Subway. He developed many wonderful friendships with the staff and kids that worked with him. Several years and careers later, Steve started a business as a handyman and worked with Geri’s investors and property owners as the caretaker and maintenance man. He was known for working with his hands and for losing his tools, but he was pretty darn good with a drill. Steve was also a proud grandfather. He adored watching his grandkids events such as choir concerts, soccer, softball, and much more. Steve often commented about how he wished he could spend more time with his grandkids as they brought him great amounts of joy. Steve will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Virginia Dahmes, his brothers in law, David Hefferman, and Dirk Simon.

He is survived by his wife Geri, children, grandchildren, and siblings: Susan Hefferman, Sandra Dahmes-Hardaway, Kenneth Dahmes, and Ginifer Simon.

Memorial services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Christ’s Victory Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the church in Redwood Falls and will continue after services.
