Stephen (Steve) Johanneck of Plymouth, formerly of Robbinsdale, passed away peacefully of natural causes on November 17, 2022, at age 70, mercifully ending his struggle with Primary Progressive Aphasia and Parkinson’s. Steve was born on May 2, 1952, in Wabasso to Lenus and Marie Johanneck. He graduated from Wabasso High School in 1970 then attended Southwest State in Marshall earning degrees in math, physics and mechanical engineering. Steve worked as a mechanical engineer in Duluth and the Twin Cities retiring from Garlock Safety Systems in 2017. Steve was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed helping friends design a gyrocopter, Saturday breakfasts with the guys and annual trips to the EAA show in Oshkosh. Steve contributed his musical talents to church and handbell choirs and 25 years of musical theater performances. Steve is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carol, and sons Charles and Samuel. He is also survived by sisters Beth Johanneck and Anne Hammerschmidt, brothers Philip (Agnes), Kevin, Bob (Pat), Jeff, Peter and Dan, brother-in-law Tim Sherck, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service is being planned for the spring.
