On June 21, 2019, at approximately 3:24 p.m., the Renville County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a two vehicle crash, which had occurred at the intersection of Renville County Road 1 and Renville County Road 4 approximately eight miles south of Danube in Henryville Township.
As a result of the crash a Redwood Falls women was killed.
The preliminary crash investigation revealed that a 2004 International tractor truck and trailer, driven by Mark Wagner, 62, of Bird Island was traveling east on County Road 4 and failed to yield after stopping at the stop sign at the intersection with County Road 1.
A 1996 Subaru Legacy driven Haley Winslow, 18, of Franklin had been traveling north on County Road 1 and collided with the 2004 International.
A passenger in the Subaru, Madison Vagle, 22, of Redwood Falls, was flown from the scene to North Memorial Hospital by North Air Care with serious injuries.
Wagner was transported to the Renville County Hospital by the Olivia Ambulance Service with non-life-threatening injuries.
Winslow was initially transported to Carris Health-Redwood by Renville Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. Winslow was later flown to North Memorial Hospital by North Air Care.
Assisting on scene were: Renville Ambulance, Olivia Ambulance, North Memorial Ambulance, North Memorial Air Care, Danube Fire Department, Renville Fire Department, Danube Police Department, Lower Sioux Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol and the Renville County Sheriff’s Office. The Renville County Sheriff’s Department and Minnesota State Patrol are investigating the crash.
On June 25, 2019, the Renville County Sheriff’s Department received information from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office that Vagle had passed away June 23, 2019 from her injuries. Cause of death will be pending an autopsy by Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
