One by one, members of the Redwood Valley High School Class of 2019 were called to the stage May 1 – many of them heard their name more than once.

That night, as part of the Evening of the Stars event, the current senior class was celebrated, and the presentation of scholarships to those students was one way they were honored.

By the end of the event, the senior class had been awarded scholarships totaling $489,378 from the Redwood Area Orrin S. Estebo Dollars for Scholars Chapter as well as from the community, businesses, organizations and the school.

What follows is a list of the scholarships that were awarded May 1:

• A Farmers Union Industries $1,000 scholarship was awarded to Alex Louwagie.

• A Nuvera/R. T. Rodenberg $500 scholarship was awarded to Amy Martius.

• The Steve Family Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Matthew Lindbo.

• An Orrin S. Estebo Scholarship for $750 and the Dash Riley Ellingworth and Jeff Jensen Scholarship for $750 were awarded to Harlee Ahrens.

• An Orrin S. Estebo Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Anthony Baune.

• A Jan Raduenz Phillips Nursing Scholarship for $833, renewable three times was awarded to Abigail Bell.

• A George Ramseth Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Breanna Beran.

• The Dr. Thomas Gross Family Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Kyle Day.

• An Orrin S. Estebo Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Skylar Dehncke.

• The Fuhr Family Scholarship for $500 and the Kathryn Olson/Elmer and Julia Kaardal/James and Lynn Burchett Scholarship for $500 were awarded to Corey Diekmann.

• The Donald P. Tiffany Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Hailey Domeier.

• A MinnWest Bank M.V. Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Gavin Dow.

• The Helen and Ruth Peterson Scholarship for $934 renewable for three years was awarded to Deon Estebo.

• An Orrin S. Estebo Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Carson Farmer.

• The Henry and Mary Jo Boots Scholarship in the amount of $500 was awarded to Raymond Gerke.

• A George Ramseth Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Ariana Gregg.

• A Jan Raduenz Phillips Scholarship for Nursing for $833 which is renewable three times was awarded to Kyle Huhnerkoch.

• The Sgt. Brent Koch Memorial Scholarship for $500 was awarded to David Jacobson.

• An Orrin S. Estebo Scholarship for $1,500 and the Otto Family Scholarship for $500 were awarded to Caitlyn Johnson.

• An Orrin S. Estebo Scholarship for $2,000 was awarded to Zach Josephson.

• The Women in STEM Scholarship for $2,400 was awarded to Lauren Karnitz.

• A George Ramseth Scholarship for $1,500 was awarded to Tylar Larsen.

• The James Gordon and Julie Gordon Scholarship in the amount of $500 was awarded to Kyle Lechner.

• The Col. William R. Cook Scholarship for $500 and the Jean Stephany Music Scholarship for $1,500 were awarded to Mara Lund.

• The Marion Frederickson Scholarship for $500 and the Meister/Swartz Families Scholarship were awarded to Amy Martius.

• A Bremer Bank Scholarship for $500, a Ruby’s Pantry Scholarship for $500 and the Eberlein-Stoterau and Marion Frederickson Scholarship for $500 were awarded to Logan Prouty.

• The Helen and Ruth Peterson Scholarship for $934 renewable three times was awarded to Lydia Rigge.

• A Minnwest Bank Scholarship for $1,500 and a Vic and Olga Engberg /Redwood Falls Arts Council and Arts Center/Bernicks Pepsi Scholarship for $500 were awarded to Esther Schmieg.

• An Orrin S. Estebo Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Alexander Seaman.

• A Minnwest Bank Scholarship in the amount of $500 was awarded to Cameran Sommers.

• The Burmeister Family Scholarship for $1,000 and the Norma Flinn Memorial /Western Family Scholarship for $500 were awarded to Haylee Sovell.

• The Don and Vera Tiffany Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Jared Stoen.

• The Phillip McKay Memorial Agriculture Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Jaden Van Hee.

• An Orrin S. Estebo Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Austin Vogland.

• The Mandy Nieland Memorial Scholarship for $500 was awarded to Corbin Wabasha.

Several Dollars for Scholars Scholarships were also awarded to RVHS students who are already studying at the post-secondary level, including:

• The Marlys and Gene Verdoes Scholarship for $1,000 was awarded to Emma Gaffney.

• The Mahal/DePauw-Buckley Education Scholarship for $1,000 was awarded to Tucker Machart.

• The Marilyn Smith Education Scholarships for $2,500 were awarded to Emma Gaffney and Elizabeth Prouty.

• The PEO Scholarship in the amount of $500 was awarded to Amber Junker.

Community awards

• The Chevy FFA Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 was presented to Harlee Ahrens.

• The Redwood Area Theatre (RAT) scholarship in the amount of $250 was awarded to Lydia Rigge. 

• The Redwood Falls Fire Department presented a $150 scholarship to Jayden Probst and Makayla Messer.

• The American Red Cross awarded a $250 scholarship to Deon Estebo.

• The Redwood Falls Lions Club scholarship in the amount of $500 was awarded to Haylee Sovell and Deon Estebo.

• Divine Home Care presented a $1,000 award to Brianna Panitzke.

• Redwood Electric Cooperative's Operation Round Up presented scholarships in the amount of $215 each to Grant Liebl, Deon Estebo, Zack Josephson, Brianna Panitzke, Matthew Lindbo, Caitlyn Johnson and Logan Prouty.

• The Audacia GFWC Study Club Scholarship in the amount of $200 was awarded to Julia Prouty.

• The Sons of the American Legion awarded a $500 scholarship to Deon Estebo and Matthew Lindbo.

• Education Minnesota: Redwood Falls awarded a $500 scholarship to Alex Louwagie.

• Tech & Trades scholarships in the amount of $500 were presented to Kailyn Nordby and Matthew Lindbo.

• The GRASP scholarship in the amount of $500 was presented to Tylar Larsen.

• National Honor Society scholarships of $250 each were awarded to Tylar Larsen and Deon Estebo.

• The Redwood Area Wrestling Scholarship in the amount of $200 was awarded to Tayte Harazin and Omar Arredondo.

• John H. Nelson Scholarship was awarded to Deon Estebo.

• The West Central Smiles scholarship in the amount of $500 was presented to Zach Josephson.

• The Arvig scholarship in the amount of $3,000 was awarded to Deon Estebo.

• The Belview Booster Club presented a $300 scholarship to Corey Diekmann.

• The Redwood Area Chamber Ag scholarship in the amount of $1,000 was awarded to Alex Louwagie and Lydia Rigge.

• First Security Bank of Lamberton awarded a $3,000 scholarship to Lauren Karnitz.
