A total of nine individuals submitted an application to serve the remainder of the current term as a member of the Redwood Falls city council representing the city’s first ward.
After the pool of applicants was narrowed to three, interviews were conducted, with Denise Kerkhoff selected to serve.
Kerkhoff was approved for the appointment by the city council at its Feb. 5 meeting and was sworn in by Mayor Tom Quackenbush.
Kerkhoff then took her position on the council and finished the meeting.
Quackenbush expressed his appreciation to all of the individuals who applied to serve, adding the candidates who were interviewed were all quality people.
Kerkhoff will fill out the remainder of the term with the next election for that seat being held in 2020.
Read more about Kerkhoff and her decision to serve on the city council in an upcoming edition of The Redwood Gazette.
