Six players reach double figures in 97-72 victory

The Redwood Valley boys basketball team improved to 7-1 overall in Big South Conference West action with a dominating 97-72 win over host Windom Area Thursday night.

The win was the Cards’ fourth in five games and improves their overall record to 10-6. They currently sit in second place in the Section 3AA-North standings behind New London/Spicer (13-4) and ahead of Minnewaska Area (11-6) and Morris Area/CA (8-7).

Thursday night the Cardinals took a 47-36 lead into the half and would cruise from there. Redwood Valley shot nearly 51 percent from the floor in the game despite making just 25 percent of their three-point attempts (7-of-28) and going 10-of-17 from the line.

Bronson Smith led a balanced offensive attack – six players in double figures – with 18 points and six rebounds. Connor Josephson added 14 points, eight boards, five assists and four steals, and Cole Woodford had a solid stat line of 12 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, three blocked shots and two steals. Kyle Huhnerkoch had 11 points and five rebounds, Bryant Haas added 10 points and three assists and Carson Woodford had 10 points, 11 rebounds and two steals.

Brennan Sander had seven points and five assists, Colin Wells added six points, four assists and four boards, Carter Guetter had four points, Alex Lang added three points and Kyle Lechner had two points.
