Last January, Marcis Goblirsch, owner of the floral shop Petals and Balloons on Main Street in Wabasso, announced her retirement and that she was going to close her business.

After Goblirsch closed the doors for the final time Feb. 28, 2018 many in the community were concerned that there would be an empty storefront on Wabasso’s Main Street.

However, the following month, Wabasso native Derek Guetter and his wife, Larissa, moved into the former Petals and Balloons location and established the headquarters for their live motorsports show company – ATV Big Air Tour. The ATV Big Air Tour is known both locally and internationally for its sports thrill show headlining dizzying stunts and free riding on ATVs, dirt bikes, Polaris RZR and BMX.

“This is all I ever wanted to do,” said Guetter sitting alongside Larissa, his business partner and wife.

The ATV Big Air Tour varies from 30, 60 and 90-minute show lengths that showcase professional ATV and off-road riders on a daring course of steel ramps placed more than 75 feet apart. One small mistake can bring dire consequences, but this group is fearless.

The Guetters along with the 14 traveling crew members form the ATV Big Air Tour family, which includes eight professional performers, are both passionate and dedicated to both their fans and clients.

Derek, along with his older brother Jon, have established an extensive stunt resume including: Jon becoming the first person in the world to successfully land an ATV backflip, back flipping over a moving train and Derek starring in a Hollywood movie called “Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates” performing the ATV Stunts for Adam Devine and Zach Efron.

Over the years Derek Guetter has ventured his passion of ATVs into many areas of business, including starring in video games, apparel, merchandise and producing four ATV motocross films.

The bulk of the Guetters’ time is spent promoting the ATV Big Air Tour through networking and selling the tour to various outlets, such as county and state fairs, motor speedways, exposition events and ATV rallies.

Behind the scenes, Larissa handles much of the business administration, operations and photography of the tour.

The Guetters work closely with The International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE) by visiting trade shows to promote and secure tour show bookings.

“IAFE is a wonderful family and have been very helpful in promoting our show,” added Guetter.

It’s amazing to imagine that Wabasso headquarters a company that in 2018 toured 12 states, attended 22 events and produced 31 shows. The summer months of June through September are when the performances are held, with the remaining months spent promoting and securing future bookings.

The Guetters, along with their daughter, Lanah, make their home in Wabasso.

During the fall Derek will often help his brother Jon with harvest.

The success of the ATV Big Air Tour allows him and his family to enjoy the his passion. Derek, Larissa and the ATV Big Air Tour’s passion extends not just to the business of the tour, but to producing a family friendly show for all ages and, along with their daughter, Lanah, the tour keeps them constantly learning the value of the story, added Larissa.

As parents, the Guetters constantly evolve to incorporate new ways to their tour to attract to all members of the family. The ATV Big Air Tour show not only incorporates family appropriate rock and hip-hop music along with stunts and performances but also features professional riders who are good role models for the children who attend the tour show.

The Guetters work endlessly to continue to establish the tour show as well as connecting with a fan base from around the world via social media as well as at their shows. The Guetters know that the gift of their success is to be respected and appreciated, and that knowledge fuels their passion to help others and to support their community.

As the year 2019 gears up the Guetters will be busier than ever with a full season line-up of shows and traveling. The Guetters are excited to announce the first event of 2019 performing at the Jericho ATV Festival this August in New Hampshire at Jericho Mountain State Park.
