On Nov. 19, 2018, an operation was conducted in the City of Redwood Falls by the Brown /Lyon/Redwood Drug Task Force resulting in the arrest of two individuals on several felony level charges.
Levi Richard Zinniel, 31, and Jodi Marie Simon, 35, both of New Ulm were arrested after agents purchased one-half ounce of methamphetamine from the defendants. After the purchase was completed agents and officers moved in to conduct an arrest.
At that time, the defendants fled in their motor vehicle driving towards the City of Morton. During the vehicle pursuit two firearms where thrown from the vehicle. The two subjects eventually came to a stop and were taken into custody. Agents were able to locate the two firearms that were thrown from the vehicle.
Both Simon and Zinniel were charged with controlled substance crimes in the first and second degree and with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Zinniel faces an additional charge of fleeing in a motor vehicle. Both Simon and Zinniel were also wanted on outstanding felony level warrants from Brown County.
A search warrant was executed on the motor vehicle after the incident, and more controlled substances were located. The information was forwarded to the Redwood County attorney’s office, and additional charges are expected to be filed on both Simon and Zinniel in addition to their current charges.
