The fifth annual Akicita Wacipi – veterans and keeping tobacco sacred pow wow – is being held this coming Saturday (Nov. 10) in the Dacotah Exposition Center at Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel on the Lower Sioux Community.

The event, which is held to honor veterans and culture, includes a grand entry at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The master of ceremonies for the event is Butch Felix of Sisseton, S.D. with Wahpekute from South Dakota as the host drum.

The event is open to the public, and there is no cost to attend.

The veterans and keep tobacco sacred pow wow is sponsored by the Cansayapi Cultural Department, the Lower Sioux Tobacco Prevention Program, veterans services and Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel.

The weekend also includes a Dakota language bowl.

Everyone is encouraged to attend.
