Redwood Valley earns second place finish at Section 3A Meet
The Redwood Valley boys cross country team is headed back to the Class A state tournament following a second-place finish at the Section 3A Meet held Thursday afternoon in rain-soaked Luverne.
Redwood Valley knew it would be in a dogfight with rival Luverne on its home track for the second spot and would edge the host Cardinals (83-92) to earn a trip to St. Olaf Saturday morning.
A strong LPQV team rolled to the team title with 31 points in the 23-team event.
This will be the Cards first trip back to state since 2015, Deon Estebo and Sam Fox were both members of the team that finished 16th overall.
It was another strong effort for standout Jayson Peyerl who finished in third place with a time of 17:05. Teammate Mason Clark cracked the top 10 with a 10th place finish in a time of 17:17, and Estebo was 18th with a time of 17:45.
