Guetter surpasses 1,000 career digs during Saturday's action
Playing against some strong competition the Wabasso girls volleyball team earned a fourth-place finish Saturday at the Class A Showcase tournament in Burnsville.
The Rabbits (14-4) went a perfect 3-0 in pool play, topping Wabasha-Kellogg 25-13, 25-13, Barnesville 25-19, 25-19 and New Life Academy 25-20, 25-12 to earn a spot in the Gold division semifinals.
There, they would run into Section rival Minneota, falling 25-9, 25-20 to put themselves in the third-place game. In the third-place game, the Rabbits got into a good battle with Waterville/Elysian-Morristown but fell 26-24, 25-22.
Senior Maddy Guetter added more accolades to her memorable career by surpassing 1,000 career digs and earning a spot on the All-Tournament team. She would finish with 63 kills, 58 digs and four ace serves. Amanda Hoffman had 20 kills and a team-high 24 ace blocks, and Jenna Frank had 97 set assists, 14 ace blocks and four ace serves. Megan Rothmeier led the way with 69 digs, and McKenna Nelson added 42 digs.
