Once again, it’s Farmfest time, and the public is cordially invited to attend the Old Time extravaganza at the historic Gilfillan farmstead located on the same grounds as Farmfest just across the road to the west. The extravaganza which started Aug. 7 continues throughout the day today (Aug. 8) and tomorrow (Aug. 9).

There will be Old Time music again this year.

Parking is free, and there is no admission charge. Seats and tables are available. Bring your own lawn chairs if you like.

A food stand, co-sponsored by Roadhouse Bar and Grill and the Friends of Gilfillan, will be available. Hamburgers, brats, potato salad and cole slaw are some of the items being served.

The Friends of Gilfillan homemade ice cream and root beer floats are available in the pavilion. Tasty funnel cakes will be made also.

There are several things to do and see if you have the time and are interested.

Some of these are: music under the trees with tables available, tours of the historical Gilfillan house (only $3), viewing of the beautiful garden area, tours of the Heritage House, antique machinery and tools, old time tractors, blacksmithing demonstrations, grain threshing, miniature horses, a Redwood County recycling display and a display by the Two Cylinder Club.

The Friends of Gilfillan invites visitors to come out and support the Friends of Gilfillan volunteer organization. This is its primary fundraiser for the year.

The Friends has made many improvements in the pavilion and is undertaking major improvements in the kitchen area for next year.

The pavilion is popular and draws hundreds of people to the area for weddings, anniversaries and many other events.

Everyone is encouraged to come over and enjoy a good lunch prepared by the Roadhouse Bar and Grill. Then top it off with a root beer float with homemade ice cream and 1919 root beer.
