To meet the need of access to health care in rural Minnesota, Health Care Enhancement Centers in Wabasso now offers physical therapy to meet the needs of Wabasso and the surrounding community.

Jeny Bauer, a physical therapist with 15 years of experience, began providing physical therapy at HEC in May.

“HEC is both proud and excited to offer physical therapy to the community," said Bauer.

Bauer received a degree in biology from Southwest State University in 2000, a master’s degree in physical therapy in 2002 from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse and a doctorate degree in physical therapy from Temple University in Pennsylvania in 2010.

Bauer is a resident of rural Lynd just outside of Marshall along with her husband and three children.

Bauer explained physical therapy involves treatment encompassing general orthopedics, post surgical, sprains and strains, balance and spinal issues.

The process to seek physical therapy does require a patient to be referred to Dr. Bauer either in-house at HEC or from an outside physician.

Bauer emphasized the importance of a patient “having a choice in their medical care and to be proactive about ones health.”

Bauer stressed the importance of a patient not waiting too long to seek treatment for their ailment.

A common misconception is that physical therapy is “forever” with frequent visits. Often with correct stretching and strengthening a patient can live an active life without constant visits for physical therapy.

During the hands-on care provided by Bauer and the services of physical therapy, a patient can develop a relationship with their provider to bring ease of discomfort and increased of mobility.

Exciting changes continue at HEC as the Wabasso Fixen Chiropractic and Premier Massage locations have moved into the HEC Wabasso office.

HEC is proud to provide service of same day access if needed by a patient. HEC offers such services as annual check-ups, preventive checks, immunizations, DOT/CDL physicals, athletic and pre-employment physicals. HEC makes it convenient for the community to have its health care needs met without having to wait or travel elsewhere.

Appointments to HEC are available from 12-5 p.m. Mondays and 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. HEC accepts most insurances and is located at 134 Highway 68.
