The Redwood Area Hospital invites all community cancer survivors to join in celebrating life at the 25th annual Cancer Survivors Picnic.

The “Strike Out Cancer” picnic will be held June 14 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Redwood Area Hospital Education Room. The picnic will include grilled hot dogs, beverage and utensils furnished by the hospital. Guests are invited to bring a dish to share.

Redwood County Relay For Life will be handing out survivor shirts at the picnic for those walking the survivor’s lap at the Relay in July.

The picnic is a chance for cancer survivors (no matter where they received treatment) to connect with other survivors, celebrate milestones and acknowledge the family members, friends and healthcare providers who have supported them along the way.

“Each year this celebration gives cancer survivors and their families a chance to stand together and show that life after a cancer diagnosis can be exciting, fulfilling and inspiring,” said Cindy Moldan, registered nurse with the Redwood Area Hospital Cancer Care Center.

Thanks to advances in prevention, early detection, treatment and follow-up care, more people than ever are surviving cancer.

In Minnesota alone, there are nearly 300,000 survivors – now that is something to celebrate.
