Redwood icemen bring 25-5 mark into Regional play tomorrow
The Redwood Falls Bantam B Hockey team earned its second straight district title with a 5-2 win over Worthington recently in Worthington.
The Bantams have put together another strong campaign, going 25-5 (10-0 in district play) and earning a sixth-place ranking in the current Bantam B rankings. Crookston (26-3-1), Osseo/Maple Grove (39-3-3), Moorhead Black (26-3-1), Edina White (38-5-2) and North Shore (28-5) are the only teams above Redwood Falls in the latest rankings.
In the district tournament, the team opened with a 6-1 win over Marshall, as Carter Iwan finished with two goals and three assists. Chad Riewer had two goals and two assists, Mason Clark added two goals and one assist and Chase Schablin had three assists. Joey Domeier stopped 19 shots on goal to earn the victory in net. In the semifinals the team defeated Worthington 6-3, as Schablin picked up the hat trick with three goals. Mason Clark had a goal and two assists, and Tyson Clark and Brody Plass both had goals. Iwan and Cole Brady both had two assists, and Luke Elmer had one assist. Domeier stopped 17 shots to earn the victory in net. In the championship, Redwood topped Worthington again 5-2 for the title. Mason Clark capped off a six goal tournament with a hat trick and an assist. Schablin had a goal and an assist, Tyson Clark had a goal and Brady and Plass both picked up assists. Domeier stopped 20 shots in net.
The team will now gear up for the regional tournament that gets under way March 2 and runs through March 4.
