United Community Action, in partnership with United Way of Southwest Minnesota, Prepare + Prosper, the Minnesota Department of Revenue, the Internal Revenue Service and many other community partners is again taking steps to help ensure low-income taxpayers get the full tax credits and refunds they are entitled to receive.

Between late January and mid-April, United Community Action offers free tax services for low-to-moderate-income individuals and families. E-filing, pre-paid debit cards and direct deposit are offered, so refunds are returned very quickly.

The Redwood Falls tax clinic site is open Monday evenings during tax season. Additional tax sites are located in Marshall, Willmar, Windom and Jackson.

The tax clinic is administered by United Community Action, but it relies on volunteers for its operation. Volunteers who share their time and talents are trained as IRS-certified tax preparers.

Each return that is prepared by a volunteer is also reviewed by an experienced preparer before being electronically filed. Free tax preparation services are available for families with incomes less than $55,000 or individuals with incomes less than $35,000.

Contact United Community Action to find out if you qualify for low income tax preparation services.

Appointments for tax services are now being accepted. Call United Community Action at (507) 537-1416 to set up a time.
