A number of Redwood area individuals went shopping over the holiday season and made a donation to the Redwood County Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign.

The red kettles have been packed away for the year and the campaign completed.

The Salvation Army committee would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all of the generous people of Redwood County who donated to the 2017 campaign.

As of this week, $16,968.99 has been donated through the kettles and direct donations.

In 2017, 315 families were helped. Families here in the Redwood area were assisted with food, clothing and household needs, emergency hotel stays, emergency rent to prevent eviction, utility emergencies as well as to provide “Coats for Kids.”

The public can take pleasure in knowing these gifts will keep working for the Salvation Army all through the year. Local contributions are a shining example of the true spirit of Christmas.

Salvation Army officials would also like to take this opportunity to personally thank all of the volunteers who participated in the Salvation Army Christmas kettle project by ringing the bell at area businesses this holiday season.

Because of people who were willing to give of their time to help out with this annual project, the Salvation Army was able to raise funds to help individuals in times of need 365 days a year across Redwood County.

Salvation Army officials wanted to offer a special thanks to Walmart and Tersteeg’s for allowing Salvation Army to receive donations from their customers at their stores.
