Redwood Area Hospital invites all community cancer survivors to join in celebrating life at the 24th annual cancer survivors picnic. The event will be held June 8 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Redwood Area Hospital education room.

The picnic will include Subway sandwiches, beverage and utensils furnished by the hospital. Guests are invited to bring a dish to share.

Redwood County Relay For Life will be handing out survivor shirts at the picnic for those walking the survivor’s lap at the Relay in July.

The picnic is a chance for cancer survivors to connect with other survivors, celebrate milestones and acknowledge the family members, friends and healthcare providers who have supported them along the way.

“Each year this celebration gives cancer survivors and their families a chance to stand together and show that life after a cancer diagnosis can be exciting, fulfilling and inspiring,” said Cindy Moldan, who is a registered nurse with the Redwood Area Hospital Cancer Care Center.

Thanks to advances in prevention, early detection, treatment and follow-up care, more people than ever are surviving cancer.

In America alone, there are nearly 14 million survivors – now that is something to celebrate.
