To celebrate spirit of the season, local volunteers have established a tradition of placing wreaths in a number of area communities as part of an effort known as Wreaths Across the Redwood Area. The annual event is being held this Saturday (Dec. 17) with a program beginning at noon in each community. All are encouraged to attend a ceremony to pay tribute to all who have served.
There are people all across the United States who are taking part in this annual event held to honor veterans.
These wreaths, which are donated by local organizations and individuals, are placed for each one of the five branches of the United States military.
These local events are part of a nationwide effort to remember the fallen, honor those who have served and teach our children the value of freedom. Local military service organizations and members of the Patriot Guard Riders offer a short program as part of the event. To find out how to get involved or to make a donation, call (507) 640-0390.
