Stevenson girls lead Redwood Valley to unbeaten start

The Redwood Valley gymnsatics team continued their strong start to the season with a first place finish Saturday at the Snowflake Invitational in Windom.
The unbeaten Cardinals finished with a 129.775 team score to easily outdistance second place Luverne (125.875) in the four-team event.
The Cards were tops on bars (30.150), floor (33.275) and won by over three points on beam (33.1) to seal the victory.
Hannah Stevenson had another strong outing to capture the All-Around title.
She finished first on beam (8.9), floor (8.825) and bars (8.35) and was third on vault (8.775).
Sidney Beran was seventh in the All-Around with a score of 27.95. She placed second on floor (8.575), and added an 8.1 on vault.
Emma Stevenson was second on beam, tieing sister Hannah with an 8.9.  Jenna Grannes was fourth with a 7.7 and Haylee Sovell fifth (7.6) as the Cards dominated the beam competition.
Mikayla Opatz finished third on bars (7.8) and Emma Stevenson was fourth (7.7).
Carlath Berry tied for fifth on floor (8.175), Hannah Elmer was tenth on vault (8.3) and Abby Beran (7.7) was tenth on floor.
Tuesday night the Cardinals had their best night of the young season, topping Benson 133-130.625.
The Cards outscored the Braves 32.550-29.800 on beam.
Hannah Stevenson captured the All-Around with a season best score of 35.550 while Emma Stevenson also recorded a season-best score of 34.925 to finish second.
Hannah was tops on floor (9.375) bars (8.375) and vault (9.15) and second on beam (8.65).
Emma was first on beam (9.075), second on vault (8.925), and third on both bars (8.175) and floor (8.75).
Grannes was third on beam with an 8.25.
In JV competition the Cards fell 118.6-111.8.
Riley Franklin was third in the All-Around with a 22.6 (competing in three events).
She was tops on bars (7.6) and third on vault (8.2).
