For two weeks, residents of area cities, townships and school districts were afforded the opportunity to get involved in public service by filing an affidavit of candidacy for open seats on school boards, township boards and city councils. When the filing window closed this past Tuesday, a number of individuals had filed for those open seats.
What follows is a list of the individuals who filed:
• Six people filed for three open seats on the Redwood Area Board of Education, including Jim Buckley (incumbent), Wayne Junker (incumbent), Anne O’Keefe-Jackson, Darin Michael Prescott, John Salmon (incumbent) and Kristine Senger. All will appear on the Nov. 8 ballot.                                   • Four individuals filed for four open seats on the Cedar Mountain school board, including: Brycen Christensen, Angie Jem-mings, Tim Sandgren and Joseph Sullivan.
• In the Red Rock Central School District, Bruce Grant and Ronald Kelsey filed for the at-large seat, Chad Stavnes filed for the District 1 seat and Alex Pankonin filed for the District 3 spot.
• In the Westbrook-Walnut Grove School District, five individuals filed for four open seats, including: Ginny Barron, Becky Foster, Jim Kleven, Maury Kuehl and Dan Warner.
• In the Milroy School District, Colleen Brooks, Becky Hensch and Kimberly Jenniges filed for the three open seats.
• In the Wabasso School District, Krista Daniels, Barb Hoffman and Jeff Turbes filed for the three open seats.
• In Redwood Falls, Larry Arentson and John Buckley (incumbent) filed for the open at-large city council seat, with Paul DeBlieck filing for the open seat in Ward 1. Jon Markuson and Matthew Smith (incumbent) filed to fill the Ward 2 city council seat.
• In the City of Belview, Marlo Sander filed for the open mayor post, with Janet Anderson, Dianne Donner and Jon Lewis filing for the two open city council positions.
• In Clements, Thomas Groebner filed to run for mayor, with Heather Lothert and Patrick Nelsen filing for the two open seats on the city council.
• Cindy Bell and Jeff Finnegan filed for the mayor position in Delhi, with Mae Ann Peterson filing for city council. There were no candidates filing for the open city treasurer post, nor did anyone file for the special election city clerk seat.
• In Lamberton, Bill Schaffran filed to run for mayor, with Darrell Knutson and Terry Neperman filing to run for the two open seats on the city council.
• Rindy Filzen filed to serve as mayor in Lucan, with Duane Duscher and Mary J. Haberman filing to serve in the two open city council posts.
• In Milroy, Elizabeth “Dolly” Graham filed to serve as mayor, with Colleen Brooks and Renee Zwach filing to fill the two open seats on the city council.
• Robert H. Fischer filed to serve as mayor in Morgan, with Beth Christensen filing to serve on the city council. No one else filed for the city council, which has two open seats.
• In Revere, Dean Baker filed for mayor, with Harold Hutchinson and Scott Parker filing to fill the two open seats on the city council.
• Andrew Alan Larson and Brandon Schroeder filed to serve as mayor in Sanborn, with Mary Fennern, Kelly Pierson and Pat Simonson filing to fill the two open seats on the city council.
• In Seaforth, Charles Rohlik filed to serve as mayor, with James R. Loppnow and Cristin Rudenick filing to fill the two open seats on the city council.
• In Vesta, Jeff Wall filed to serve as mayor, with Justin Kolander, Jason Kramer and Travis Zollner filing to serve in the two open seats on the city council. A special election for a council seat is also being held, with Alicia Anderson, Kelly Hoflock, Adam Krause and Krista Remiger filing to fill that seat.
• No one filed to serve as mayor in Wabasso, with Rachel Ingebretson and Carole Remiger filing to fill the two open seats on the city council. A special election is also being held to fill two open seats on the council, with Dean M. Fischer the only candidate filing.
• In Walnut Grove, Greg Hansen filed to serve as mayor, with Todd Harrington and Xiong Yang filing to for the two open city council seats.
• No one filed to serve as mayor in Wanda, with Terry K. Brand filing to serve on the city council. No one else filed to fill the two open council seats.
• In Honner Township no one filed for the open supervisor and clerk seats.
• In Sheridan Township, Gerald Senger filed to serve in the open supervisor role, with Sally Schueller filing to serve as clerk.
• In Underwood Township Robert Kirsh filed to serve in the open supervisor role, with Lois Pagel filing to serve as clerk.
• In Vesta Township, Gary Rohlik and Hartwin Kreft filed for the open supervisor seats, with Sonya Alexander filing to serve as treasurer.
