David Roy Smetak died unexpectedly at his home in Minneapolis on March 14, 2022. He was 66.

Dave was an early adopter of computers. He graduated from University of Minnesota when computers used belts and punch cards. His work revolved around computer systems, the last several years with Park Dental System.

Dave was born in Redwood Falls September 25, 1955, the youngest child of Roy and Eileen (Woelfel) Smetak, both deceased.

Dave’s sister, Joyce Sommers, died December 20, 2021, in Michigan where she lived with her daughter, Bobbi Kay Sommers. Dave’s nephew Corey Sommers died in Arizona August 24, 2021. Dave is also predeceased by his nephew, Jeff Smetak. Dave is survived by his brother Ted Smetak (Ann

Dave is survived by his brother Ted Smetak (Ann Montgomery) and his niece, Anne Smetak (Lance George) and their families who live in Minnesota. Dave is also survived by niece Bobbi Kay Sommers and her sons Dylan and Payton Kee who live in Michigan.

Dave’s Metro area friends, who became a second family to him, have scheduled one last Taco Tuesday gathering.

A memorial gathering for Dave, Joyce and Corey will be held at Redwood Falls Cemetery in early summer.
