Truman A. Johnson, 86, of Eagan, formerly of Belview, passed away on June 30, 2022, at the Martin Luther Senior Living facility of Bloomington. A Celebration of Life and burial at the Belview cemetery will be held at a later date.

Visitation will continue from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow the service at Redwood City Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church followed by a Military Tribute by the Chisholm American Legion before services in the church. Roger Carroll Breckenridge

Roger Carroll Breckenridge was born May 28, 1940, on the Martin Frieze farm in Three Lakes Township, Redwood County. He was the son of Sidney and Florence (Muetzel) Breckenridge. Shortly after his birth, his parents moved the family to 124 West Flynn Street in Redwood Falls where he spent his childhood, boyhood and teenage years. He attended Lincoln grade school and RFHS, graduating with the Class of 1958. He was a Boy Scout and wrestled for the RFHS under coach Virgil Sales. He attended Methodist Episcopal Church where he was confirmed. While still in high school he worked at The Redwood Gazette. He spent three years in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Hawaii and Japan. While in Japan he and Yoko were married in 1962 at the American Embassy in Tokyo. Roger graduated from Mankato State with a BS in Mathematics and a minor in Physics. He taught mathematics at Round Lake and Winthrop and then in 1978 the family moved to the Twin Cities where he worked as a computer programmer for UNISYS. For a retirement job, he was a shuttle driver at Belzer’s car dealership in Lakeville. For hobbies Roger worked on family genealogy, history of Redwood Falls, local Civil War Soldiers, the History of the Dakota Conflict and published weekly a RFHS Alumni newsletter entitled The Red Dog Gulch Gazette. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John. Survivors include his wife, Yoko, son, Richard (Amanda) Breckenridge and granddaughter, Emma of Plano, Texas, his brother Gordon (Kaye) of Alpena, Mich., sister-in-law Barbara of Marshall, and several nieces and nephews.

Calvin “Cal” L. Keil

Calvin Leon Keil passed away March 19, 2020 from natural causes (just as the Covid-19 pandemic began and on his daughter, Karen’s, birthday) at Belleview Heights Assisted Living and Memory Care in Aurora, Colo. where he resided. Calvin was born December 16, 1930 (a month earlier than he was due) to William R. Keil and Gena S. (nee Knudson) Keil 1930 in the family home on Walnut Street in Redwood Falls, a southern Minnesota farming community with a population of about 4,000. Calvin grew up in Redwood Falls, first at the family’s home in town when his father worked as a state highway maintenance man and later at his grandmother’s farm where they moved to care for her before her death. Calvin and his brothers helped their father work the farm while his father also continued to work for the state highway department. As a boy, he enjoyed participating in the 4-H Club and raised pigs to take to the fair in hopes of winning ribbons or to sell to interested buyers. He graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1948.

Joan M. Brown, 91, of Morton passed away on January 15, 2022. Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 5 at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Morton. Joyce Yvonne (Kotval) McKay

Joyce Yvonne (Kotval) McKay, 88, Child of God, died peacefully in the early morning of Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Garnette Gardens in Redwood Falls. She was on Hospice care for a week following a short hospitalization for congestive heart failure. In her final hours, she was surrounded by her children who loved her deeply, and she was blessed to have visits, phone calls and loving messages from grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends in her final days. Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 12 at First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation was held from 5 - 8 p.m. Monday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home, and continued one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Interment was in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.
