Dan GreyEagle “Wambdi Duta”, meaning Red Eagle, 66, of Lower Sioux Community passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022, at St. Cloud Hospital.
Services for JoAnn Jaeger, 86, of Lamberton will be held Monday December 12, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Lamberton. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service, 9 until 11 a.m., at the church. Interment will follow the service at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Cemetery in rural Wabasso. JoAnn Mae Saxton, daughter of Chester and Dolores (Leonard) Saxton, was born May 2, 1936, in Holly Township of Murray County, six miles southeast of Tracy. On March 21, 1937, she was baptized on Palm Sunday by Pastor John Greshan of Holly Methodist Church. JoAnn attended eight years of school at District 29, Holly Township, Tracy High School (one year), Walnut Grove High School (one year), and Milroy High School, where she graduated on May 28, 1953. She started nursing at Tracy Hospital June 1, 1953, until May of 1954. She then married Vernon Jaeger of rural Lamberton on May 31, 1954. There they farmed for 40 years and raised their family. JoAnn enjoyed home extension, driving for Western Community Action, bowling, hunting deer, traveling, and spending time with her family, friends, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. JoAnn died on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Valley View Manor nursing home in Lamberton. Surviving family include her children Patricia (Krag) Johnson of Redwood Falls, Steven Jaeger of rural Lamberton, Sandra Frericks of Walker, and David Jaeger of Sanborn; grandchildren Sean Jaeger, Derek Frericks of Cass Lake, Shayla Frericks of Wanda, Allison (Darren) Rue of Lamberton, and Nicole Jaeger of Clitherall, and great-grandchildren Dawson and Stella Rue; as well as her brother Raymond (Juliana) Saxton of Ottertail, sister Julie Kay Magrane of Carson City, Nev., nieces Michell (Jeff) Schoer, Rayetta (Steve) Christensen, Kareen (Joseph Jr.) Filippi and nephew Eric (Renee) Eich. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vernon, brother Richard Saxton, sister-in-law Marion (Vind) Saxton, nephew Todd Eich, and an infant great-granddaught

Stephen (Steve) Johanneck of Plymouth, formerly of Robbinsdale, passed away peacefully of natural causes on November 17, 2022, at age 70, mercifully ending his struggle with Primary Progressive Aphasia and Parkinson’s. Steve was born on May 2, 1952, in Wabasso to Lenus and Marie Johanneck. He graduated from Wabasso High School in 1970 then attended Southwest State in Marshall earning degrees in math, physics and mechanical engineering. Steve worked as a mechanical engineer in Duluth and the Twin Cities retiring from Garlock Safety Systems in 2017. Steve was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed helping friends design a gyrocopter, Saturday breakfasts with the guys and annual trips to the EAA show in Oshkosh. Steve contributed his musical talents to church and handbell choirs and 25 years of musical theater performances. Steve is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carol, and sons Charles and Samuel. He is also survived by sisters Beth Johanneck and Anne Hammerschmidt, brothers Philip (Agnes), Kevin, Bob (Pat), Jeff, Peter and Dan, brother-in-law Tim Sherck, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
