It's been a less than ideal start to the season for the spring sports teams but the Redwood Valley golfers were able to play their first meet Monday, April 11 at the Marshall Golf Club. The Cardinals finished ninth out of 15 teams with a 394 total team score.
Cedar Mountain senior Caden Kleinschmidt recently signed a letter of intent to play football for Gustavus Adolphus College next fall. The Cougar standout was a big part of Cedar Mountain's cinderella run to the Section title game in 2021 and was selected to the Minnesota All State Football team (9-man) as a wide receiver.
The Redwood Valley tennis team improved to 2-0 on the young season with a 6-1 win over MACCRAY Thursday, April 7 in non-conference action. The Cardinals again dominated in singles competition as all four players won in straight sets.
Redwood Valley High School’s Drew Lundeen was recently named a Scholar-Athlete by the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation. This annual award honors Minnesota high school football players for their outstanding athletic, academic and community service accomplishments.

Sweeping all four singles matches the Redwood Valley tennis team opened up the spring season with a 4-3 win over Dawson/Boyd Secondary Monday, April 4 at the RVHS tennis courts. The Cardinals had relatively smooth sailing in the singles competition and also played well in doubles despite dropping all three matches.
It was a successful 2021-22 campaign for the Redwood Falls Pee Wee Hockey team as they finished second overall in District 4. The team - consisting of 13 youngsters - played 27 games and would rack up 14 wins and three ties and finished the District season with a strong record of 8-2-2.
A pair of Wabasso seniors were recently named to the Tomahawk All-Conference boys basketball team for the 2021-22 campaign. Isaac Kronback and Sam Fenger both were honored with Kronback named to the First Team while Fenger earned Honorable Mention honors.
Following a successful 2021-22 campaign the Redwood Valley boys basketball team had three players named to the First-Team All Big South squad. The senior trio of Alex Lang, Carson Woodford and Drew Lundeen were all honored after helping lead the Cards to a 22-win season that saw them fall one game shy of a State Tournament berth and a tie for second in the Big South West Conference standings.
A group of Redwood Valley freshmen capped off their season by winning the Mississippi Division of the MYAS Freshman Basketball Championships held March 6 at Mounds View High School. The Cardinals topped Prior Lake Gold, Spring Lake Park and overcame a 13-point halftime deficit to defeat Duluth Denfeld in the title game.
