A pair of victories in doubles proved to be the difference as Redwood Valley edged Fairmont 4-3 in a Big South Conference tennis dual. The Cards split in singles but would take two of the three doubles matches to secure the victory.
The Redwood Valley boys were second and the girls fourth at the Big South (Small School) Conference Meet held at the Inglis Track & Field Complex in Redwood Falls. The Cardinal boys finished with 115.5 team points to place behind champion Luverne (132) and ahead of JCC (100) in the seven team event.
The Redwood Valley baseball team avenged an earlier season loss to St. James with a recent 4-2 win over the Saints at Memorial Field.
The Wabasso girls softball team held of GFW 6-5 in a recent Tomahawk Conference battle. It was big game-winning RBI off the bat of Kelsey Frank in the bottom of the seventh that helped the Rabbits (13-6) escape with the win.
The Redwood Valley girls golf team continued its memorable 2022 campaign by capturing the Big South Conference Tournament held Monday at Dacotah Ridge Gof Club. The Cardinals had three finishers in the top 10 and held off Fairmont by three strokes (354-357) in the 10-team event to claim victory.
The Redwood Valley boys and girls track teams earned third and sixth place finishes respectively at the Section True Team Meet held Monday at the Inglis Track & Field Complex in Redwood Falls. Luverne would capture both the boys and girls team titles.
The Redwood Valley girls golf team continued their dominance of Big South competition with an easy win Monday, May 9 at the Windom Country Club. The Cardinals fired a 352 team total to outdistance second place Marshall (401) by 49 strokes.
The Wabasso baseball team split a Tomahawk Conference doubleheader with rival SESM Thursday, May 5 in Wabasso. The Rabbits took game one 5-2 and would fall 9-8 in eight innings in game two.
The Redwood Valley tennis team dropped a tough 4-3 battle with Worthington in recent Big South Conference action. The Cardinals took three of the four singles matches but dropped all three doubles matches tof all by a point.
It was another solid outing for the River Valley track and field teams as the girls finished first and the boys second at the St. James Quadrangular.
