Jaxx pick up win over Willmar

On Wednesday, June 8th, the Wabasso Jaxx were looking for their second straight win as they took on the Willmar Rails in Wabasso. The Jaxx provided a little bit of everything in the game including big hits, solid defense, and great pitching as the result was a crucial 4-2 win over Willmar that got the team back to .500 on the season.

Cardinal duo wraps up season at State

The Redwood Valley duo of Drew Lundeen and Andrew Muetzel recently wrapped up their season competing at the State Class A Doubles Tournament held in Minneapolis. The pair drew the top seeded team of Dylan Hahn and Jack Onkka of Thief River Falls - the eventual State champs - in the opening round and were competitive in a 6-2, 6-4 loss.

Jaxx split pair

The Wabasso Jaxx continued their trek through the amateur baseball season with a pair of games over the June 3rd weekend. On Friday, June 3rd the Jaxx dropped a close game to the Milroy Yankees 2-0.

Cardinals eliminated from Section play

One of the more successful seasons in recent memory came to an end on Thursday for the Redwood Valley baseball team as they fell 5-1 to ACGC in Section 3AA action. The Cardinals (17-7) opened up the postseason with back-to-back wins against Pipestone Area and Windom Area but suffered a tough 8-5 loss to top-seed and undefeated Paynesville Area (21-0) and then fell to ACGC to end their season.

4-H Shooting Sports Club represented Redwood County VFW in national competition

Twelve youth from the Redwood/Renville 4-H Shooting Sports Club represented the Redwood County VFW in national competition. They competed against other youth from Ohio and California in the Civilian Marksmanship Program Aces Postal event. The Aces Postal is designed to provide competitive opportunities for all athletes. Targets are shot locally and mailed to CMP for computer scoring.
