Wabasso imroved to 5-2 overall in Tomahawk Conference play with a 3-1 win over BL/Hector-Stewart in a battle held Thursday in Buffalo Lake. The Rabbits (14-7) split the first two sets with the Mustangs, winning 25-19 and falling 25-12. They would close out the match however with two straight set wins, 25-13, 25-20, to close out the match.
Racing out to a 21-0 halftime lead the stateranked JCC Huskies rolled to a 35-0 win over the visiting Redwood Valley Cardinals Saturday afternoon in Jackson. The Cardinals were without starting quarterback Cam Enright who was nursing a thigh injury and the Huskie (5-0) were able to dominate in the trenches racking up 300 rushing yards (420 total yards).
It was a big weekend for Cedar Mountain's Nadia Meyers as she recorded her 1,000th career dig at the Maple River Tournament. Meyers continues to rack up the accolades as she also went over 1,000 career set assists a season ago.
It was a dominating afternoon for the Redwood Valley cross country teams as they rolled to first and second place finishes at the RV Invitational held Thursday, Sept. 29 at the Redwood Falls Golf Club.
The Redwood Valley girls tennis team continued their strong regular season play with a thrilling 4-3 win over Luverne in a recent Big South match-up. Redwood Valley would split the singles matches and took two of the three doubles matches to escape with the win.
It was a battle but the Wabasso Rabbits would outlast Tomahawk Conference rival Sleepy Eye 3-2 in a recent fiveset marathon. The Rabbits (12-7) would split the first four sets with the Indians, taking sets one (25-17) and three (25-23) and dropping sets two (25-22) and four (2515).
The Cedar Mountain girls volleyball team continued their strong regular season play with straight set wins over Springfield and RRC. The Cougars (9-3) topped the Tigers 2515, 25-9, 25-17 and took down the Falcons 25-13, 25-16, 25-19.
It was a night to remember for longtime Redwood Falls residents Mark and Dorie Oja as they left the Minnesota Twins game on Sept. 14 with a unique souvenir.
Pulling away in the second half the Pipestone Area Arrows rallied from a first half deficit to top Redwood Valley 35-7 Friday night in a Big South Conference match-up held at Inglis Field. The Cardinals (0-4) hung tough in the first half, taking a 7-6 lead into the break but the Arrows would take advantage of a turnover on the opening series of the second half - a fumble deep in Cardinal territory - and never looked back to improve to 4-0 on the season.
The Redwood County Board of Commissioners met Tuesday, Sept. 20 and recognized Jennifer Kaase, Sheriff’s Department, for five years of service to Redwood County.
