Cougars fall in Sub-Section title game
A solid overall season came to an end for the Cedar Mountain Cougars Thursday night in Mankato as they fell to top-seeded Cleveland 3-1 in the Section 2A-South Sub-Section title game. The Cougars (21-10) split the first two sets with the Clippers (2210) falling 25-11 in set number one but taking set two by a score of 25-18.
Cougars wrap up strong season with loss to Owls
Holding Cedar Mountain to just 14 points the Hancock Owls advanced on to the Section 3A-9 Man Championship with a 32-14 win over the Cougars Saturday afternoon in Hancock. A year ago the Cougars (7-3) upset the Owls (9-1) to advance to the Section title game, but this time the Owls would keep the Cougar offense in check and earn a match-up with top seed RCW (10-0) in Saturday’s Section title game.

Cardinal boys headed to State, girls send pair
With four of the top five runners earning a season best time the Redwood Valley boys cross country team is headed to State following a second place finish Thursday, Oct. 27 at the Section 3A Meet held in Luverne.

Cougars, Rabbit, Cardinal netters win first round match-ups
It was a good opening round of playoff action for local volleyball teams as Redwood Valley, Cedar Mountain and Wabasso all advanced into second round action with wins in their Section debuts. Redwood Valley topped Luverne 3-1 in Section 3AA action held Friday night and were in action against number one seed Pipestone Area Tuesday night (stats were not made available).

Cards season ends with loss to top seeded Huskies
Hanging tough early on, the Redwood Valley Cardinals would see their season slip away in the second half as top-seeded and state ranked JCC would top the visiting Cards 35-7 Saturday afternoon in Section 3AA semifinal action held in Jackson.

Cardinal runners in position to challenge for State
The Redwood Valley boys and girls cross country teams will look to parlay a strong overall regular season into postseason glory when they take part in the Section 3A Meet today in Luverne. The Cardinals have a chance to send both the boys and girls teams on to State with strong performances and showed that by earning a pair of second place finishes at the Big South Conference Meet held recently in Fairmont.

Local netters ready for start of postseason play
The Redwood Valley girls volleyball team will open up Section 3AA-South postseason action on Friday when they host Luverne in an interesting first round matchup. Redwood Valley had a nice regular season, finishing 1711 overall.


Cardinals take momentum into postseason
Scoring 28 second quarter points the Redwood Valley Cardinals rolled to a 40-21 win over host LCWM in an MEA night special held Wednesday, Oct. 19 in Lake Crystal.
