Wilson shines at State Meet

Redwood Valley junior Avery Wilson capped off a solid season with an 18th place finish Saturday at the Class A State Gymnastics Meet held in Minneapolis. Wilson - making her fourth straight appearance at the State Meet - was competing in the All-Around at State for the first time and didn’t disappoint, scoring a 35.35 to place amongst the top 20.

Rabbits send pair on to State

The Wabasso Rabbits will send a pair of wrestlers on to the State Meet following Section 3A Individual Tournament action held Saturday in in Jackson. Sophomore Kaysen Harms and senior Chase Irlbeck both earned second place finishes to move on to the State Meet held this weekend (March 2-4) at the Xcel Energy Center in St.

Cards playing well heading into postseason

Ben Stoterau Sports Editor After losing six of seven the Redwood Valley boys basketball team will head into the postseason on a three-game winning streak following victories over Fairmont, Springfield and Blue Earth Area to end the regular season. Head Coach Aaron Lindahl’s Cardinals (12-14) will be the number five seed in the upcoming Section 3AA-South playoffs and will open with a tough first round opponent in Luverne (13-10).

Arrows take down Cards in Sub-Section

The Redwood Valley girls basketball team wrapped up its season with a 58-35 loss to second-seeded Pipestone Area Saturday in Section 3AA-South quarterfinal action. The Cardinals (917) entered the postseason playing well, having won four of five, but a good Arrow squad made it threefor- three against the Cards this season and will move on to semifinal action.
