With a second place finish at the Section 3AA Meet held in Redwood Falls, Redwood Valley senior Andrew Muetzel will cap off a solid season by advancing on to the Class A State Individual Tennis Meet in Minneapolis.
The Wabasso Jaxx recently dropped their season opener to the Sacred Heart Saints by a score of 10-4 at City Field in Wabasso. A quick start by the Saints put any hopes of a comeback out of reach as Sacred Heart scored at least once in each of the first four innings to take control.
Despite a heartbreaking loss to KMS the Wabasso girls softball team remains alive in the hunt for the Section 3A title. Wabasso opened up Section 3A play with a pair of victories over Lakeview and RTR to advance to the semifinals where they would lose a tough one to rival KMS 1312.
The Redwood Valley girls golf teams quest for a Section 3AA title was in good shape after one round of play Wednesday, May 24 at the Oakdale Golf Club in Buffalo Lake. The Cardinals fired a 334 team total to lead by eight strokes over defending champion Minnewaska Area (342) with 18 holes left to play.
It was a clean sweep for the Redwood Valley boys and girls track teams as they both claimed titles at the Sub-Section Meet held at the Inglis Track and Field Complex in Redwood Falls. Redwood Valley will now take their talents to the Section Meet held today in Montevideo.
A pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth helped St. James Area hold off Redwood Valley 4-3 Saturday in opening round Section 3AA postseason play.
The struggles continued for the Redwood Valley baseball team as they dropped a pair of games with Fairmont and Sleepy Eye as we get closer to Section 3AA postseason play. The Cards are looking at a tough potential opening round match on Saturday with Luverne in round one.
A pair of tough three set losses proved to be the difference as Montevideo edged Redwood Valley 4-3 Tuesday afternoon in Section 3A semifinal action held at the RVHS tennis courts. The Cardinals - the number two seed in the Section - topped seventh seed Pipestone Area 7-0 to open up the postseason on Monday but couldn’t survived against the third-seeded Thunderhawks.
The Redwood Valley boys and girls golf teams will head into Section 3AA play following a sweep of host Pipestone Area in Big South Conference action. Senior Lincoln Ourada had it going on the road as he fired his best round of the year a one-under par 35 - to earn medalist honors and help the Cards upset the Arrows 161-162.
