War on women

Reproductive freedom should be a birthright and there is a privilege in not knowing why having the right to choose is a necessity. The mass-shooting epidemic, no universal healthcare, no paid maternity leave, no proper sex education, wealth inequality, and the underfunded and overflowing foster care system proves that the SCOTUS decision to overturn Roe v.

I mustache you a question

I always thought of the world as kind of divided into two camps: Us and Them. And I was always on Team Us. Because I’m Us, not Them. I’ve never been Them. I had friends who were Them. Well, okay. It was just one friend, Matt, who was Team Them but still. Anyway… then something dramatic happened. It was big. I won’t get into the details, but I’ll just say I was out of circulation for a couple of weeks, and I made a leap from Team Us to Team Them.

Education Beat: Stopping the Slide

Summer is a time for kids to kick back, take a break from routine, and enjoy lazy days. It also, in many cases, is when learning loss-aka “The Summer Slide” can take place. The summer slide can be measured in both social skills and classroom discipline, in addition to academics.

To the graduating class of 2022

Graduation is an exciting event for our seniors! This year, 67 students (+1 International Exchange Student) crossed the stage to receive their Redwood Valley High School Diplomas. The class of 2022 had a very different High School Experience than other classes. In 10th grade, this group had their worlds changed when March 2020 hit, closing schools across the state, nation, and world. New terms such as distance learning, Schoology, quarantine, COVID-19, and pandemic became a part of our daily conversations. That year ended without prom, sports, and a normal spring.

AM I SAFE?

Am I safe? It is a question we all ask. We want safety for ourselves and our family. With the shootings, social violence, weather disasters, virus concerns, and other random accidents, we may not feel safe. The question pops into our heads. “What if it happens to me?”
