To the editor: A recent quote from San Antonio Express- News entitled ‘Let’s keep religion out of public schools’ stated: “we are a nation in which people enjoy freedom of religion — any religion — as well as freedom from religion.” Actually, public schools have been forcing religion on kids for decades. Having looked over Minnesota K-12 Academic Standards in Science, I was wondering what they presented as proof for evolution in benchmark 9L.4.1.1.3; specifically item two which says changes in environmental conditions may result in: “the emergence of new species over time.” It references the National Academy of Sciences ‘A Framework for K-12 Science Education.’ citing (LS4.A) ‘Evidence for Common Ancestry’ (section for grade 12), it says genetic information provides evidence of evolution.
What is reality? Is reality only what I look around and see – and touch? Or is reality only limited by my imagination? I mean, I’m certainly not tethered to reality. If there was an alternate reality, I’d entertain it.
Fans and critics alike have called Beyond Reason many names but one thing they have never called Beyond Reason is: a Pulitzer Prize winning column. To the editor: The 2023 session of the Minnesota Legislature has done many wonderful things, but one decision it has made is more far-reaching than it contemplated. It has used its vast powers to keep ISD 84 students from cheering for the Sleepy Eye Indians.
Letter to the editor: Can anyone point to the date and time when we the people turned all of our personal responsibilities and moral standards over to the few that occupy the seats in our once great capital in St. Paul? Are we expected to just succumb to the standards, rules and regulations set by legislated laws and dictates? How did we get so disconnected from a government by the people for the people into becoming mere subjects of the government? Weren’t our elected Legislators and Senators supposed to “represent” the people and protect our “individual” God given Constitutional rights? I don’t recall giving my consent that allows our elected officials and unelected bureaucrats to take any of my rights away nor did I consent to allow them to give any “special” rights that I don’t possess and give them to another individual.
Memorial Day is a time to honor the memory of all the men and women who lost their lives while serving in the U.S. military.
