Redwood County Farm Family 2025: Peterson Family

The Petersen family farm got its start in 1943 when Elmer and Caroline Petersen bought the original 320 acres. By the late 1950s, their sons, Darvin and Donald, were helping run the farm. Darvin left to become a commercial pilot in the early 1960s, and when Elmer passed away in 1964, Donald managed the farm until his own passing in 1980. In 1981, the next generation, Rick and Mike, took over the operation. Rick and Kim were married in 1982, and Mike and Mary were married in 1984. Mike’s son, Alex, joined the team in 2013, continuing the family tradition.
