“I am looking forward to pursing my PhD in American Studies at Harvard University this fall.” – Gavin Zempel, LSIC memberLower Sioux Indian Community member Gavin Zempel has been accepted into the American Studies PhD program at Harvard University this fall with generous funding and all tuition covered.Zempel toured the campus at the end of March before accepting Harvard’s offer which includes a full ride, six years of generous funding, health insurance and all tuition covered.

Community journalism is alive and well in two central Minnesota communities today even as they face the loss of their historic local newspapers.CherryRoad Media, the nation’s fastest growing newspaper company, announced on April 26 that it will open newspapers in Hutchinson and Litchfield to fill the void left with the closing of the Hutchinson Leader and the Litchfield Independent Review.
