20 years of Evening of the Stars

This year marks 20 years of the Redwood Area Dollars for Scholars, Orrin S. Estebo Chapter awarding scholarships to the seniors and alumni of Redwood Valley High School. The first year of scholarships consisted of sixteen $500 scholarships. Thanks to the generous support from all the donors, 89 scholarships were awarded this year totaling $86,000.

Chevy trucks ordered by county delayed one year

The Redwood County Board of Commissioners met May 3 and approved the Minnesota Statewide Security Monitoring Initiative Crowd Strike EDR Program Service Agreement and Authorization. The board of commissioners approved a contract in Nov. 2, 2021 to implement Crowd Strike to the End Point Protection application to get rid of Sophos and MalwareBytes. For 2022, the cost per device is $12, cutting down costs by almost 50% each year in End Point protection. Year 2023 will be approximately $14 per device and thereafter will be around $28 per device.

Great Plains Natural Gas replacing natural gas pipelines in Redwood Falls

Great Plains Natural Gas will replace existing natural gas main pipelines and service lines in a portion of Redwood Falls over the next couple of months. The replacement project is an on-going integrity management process to ensure the safety and reliability of the natural gas system. Through an evaluation, Great Plains identifies sections of pipe for replacement based on physical and operation and maintenance components.

Carris Health announces name change to CentraCare

Carris Health announced on Friday, May 13, it is changing its name to CentraCare for all Carris Health entities in Willmar, Redwood Falls and New London. The name change reflects a cohesive focus as Carris Health and CentraCare have developed shared processes and strategies, including creating a Rural Health division, since Carris Health was formed in 2018 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of CentraCare.

Vacation Bible School offered

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and First Presbyterian Church are offering a free Vacation Bible School (VBS) for youth age 4 through those that just completed 4th grade. VBS is Sunday, June 12 through Wednesday, June 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. The theme of this year's VBS is "Take the Plunge" and kids are encouraged to wear their swimsuit and bring a towel to enjoy some fun water play.
