Redwood County VFW Post #2553 recently presented local Scout Master Amanda Keppers a National VFW Scouting Certificate of Appreciation. Scout Master Keppers has done an outstanding job of organizing and recruiting youth and adult leaders to the local scouting program. Redwood County VFW is the Charter Organization for Cub Scout Den #42.
During the May 20 board meeting, Redwood County Commissioners recognized Dennis Groebner for 10 years of service to Redwood County.
Belview farmer Jim Penske was recently honored among the region’s highest-producing soybean farmers in the 2024 Asgrow ® Brand National Yield Contest. Penske won the award with an impressive yield of 91 bushels per acre with Asgrow AG21XF0 Brand.
Cheyenne Parker, 8th grader at RVMS, was awarded a Life Saving Award by VFW National CMDR Al Lipphardt for her efforts to save a man that was choking back in March. VFW Post #2553 of Redwood Falls awarded a VFW Commendation to coincide with the National Commanders award. Jerry Ludwig, VFW National Aide-de-Camp and MN VFW Safety Chairman Duane Frank presented the awards to Cheyenne with her family at the end of the school year awards ceremony.
VFW member Jim Ross was this year’s top donor for the Redwood County VFW Post #2553 Poppy program. Ross donated $750 to the Poppy program. Ross also donated to the Post Relef Fund and VFW Juniors Baseball team. The public can show their support for Veterans by stopping by the Redwood County VFW Post to pick up poppies. Poppies are available year- round. Donations stay local to help out area veterans in need. Everyone is encouraged to wear poppies for Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
