Redwood County Sheriff’s Office and Wabasso American Legion Auxiliary sponsor Children’s Identification Program
Sheriff Jason Jacobson of Redwood County and his officers ran a part of the Children’s Identification program by fingerprinting the kindergarteners, and first graders in both Wabasso Elementary School and St. Anne’s Elementary School. The deputies were assisted with this program by ladies from the Victor Hirsch American Legion Auxiliary post of Wabasso: LaVonne Mathiowetz, Virginia Salfer and Joyce Plaetz. The fingerprinting forms were sent home to the parents to keep in their possession in case they would be needed for an emergency. Neither the school nor the county get a copy of the prints.
WHS student wins SMSU Creative Writing Contest
Wabasso High School Senior Kayla O. won 1st place this weekend at the SMSU Creative Writing Contest. She had submitted a non-fiction piece and was awarded a $2,000 scholarship for the 1st place prize.
