It was a career afternoon for Redwood Valley sophomore Lukas Means as he caught fire from long range, knocking down 12 bombs from long range to finish with 43 points, two assists and two steals in the Cards 94-50 rout of visiting NHREG Saturday in a non-conference match-up.

‘Exploring Conservation on Rented Farmland’ online workshop Jan. 24

Are you a farmland owner who values good stewardship practices or a farmer looking to invest in soil building on rented land? The Land Stewardship Project (LSP), in partnership with the Lac Qui Parle Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), is offering an online workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 24, to help you act on your conservation values on rented land. This event, which runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., is for farmland owners, retired farmers, farmland inheritors, and conservation farmers who would like ideas on how to invest in soil building on rented land. The workshop will use the Zoom platform and is free and open to the public with online registration. A pair of competitive battles with Springfield and JCC ended in losses in recent Redwood Valley girls basketball action. In a match-up with Big South rival JCC Friday at home the Cards (2-6) hung tough with the Huskies (5-3) but would ultimately fall 50-45.

Cardinal icemen looking for elusive first win

The Redwood Valley boys hockey team continues to search for its first win following recent losses to Prairie Center, Windom Area and Fairmont. The Cards (0-10, 0-7) fell 8-3 to Prairie Center, scoring single goals in each of the three periods.

Luverne edges Cardinal gymnasts

Visiting Luverne edged Redwood Valley 126.55-125 in a Big South Conference dual held Thursday at the RACC. Luverne had two of the top three All-Arounders including Ella Reisdorfer who would take first with her score of 34.325.
