SMSU announces results from 12th Annual AgBowl Scholarship Invitational

Southwest Minnesota State University hosted the 12th Annual Ag Bowl Scholarship Invitational, presented by Ralco Nutrition of Marshall, on Friday, Feb. 3. Over 1,100 FFA students from across the state came to the campus of Southwest Minnesota State University for this year’s invitational. Congressman Brad Finstad and Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach were part of the opening program and visited with FFA students and advisors during their visit.

Stuart Edward Juhnke, 81, of Sanborn died on February 6, 2023, at Valley View Manor Care Center in Lamberton. Visitation was on Monday, February 13, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Cardinal boys search for first victory

It’s been a tough season for the Redwood Valley boys hockey team as they fell to Willmar and Windom Area by identical 7-0 scores in recent Big South Conference action. The Cardinals (020, 0-16) wrapped up the regular season Tuesday night in Prairie Center and will then prepare for the start of Section 3A play.

The Redwood Valley boys basketball team dropped its fifth game in six outings with a 73-65 loss to host Worthington Friday night in a Big South Conference match-up. The losses are a bit misleading with the Cardinals (9-13, 5-7) having played quality opponents in Paynesville, Worthington and Morris Area/CA.

Why are the taxpayers asked to vote on another new school referendum in April? The vote in the fall of 2022 for the building of a new elementary school and the demolition of the current Reede Gray school was defeated, showing that the taxpayers clearly wanted to repair the Reede Gray school building and not tear it down. What kind of thinking is driving the superintendent and the school board to do what taxpayers don’t want, and that is a new school building.

The Cedar Mountain Cougars topped New Ulm Cathedral 53-52 in a Tomahawk Conference boys basketball thriller held Friday night in Morgan. The Cougars (9-10, 6-6) put a half to a five-game losing streak with a recent three game winning streak that included a nice conference win over the rival Greyhounds.
