Senate votes to reinstate convicted felon voting rights

In the early hours of Wednesday, February 22, a bill to give convicted felons the right to vote, no matter their crime, passed the Minnesota Senate along party- lines. “This legislation allows violent criminals, including rapists and murderers, who are still on probation to vote,” said Senator Gary Dahms (R – Redwood Falls).

Cards playing well heading into postseason

Ben Stoterau Sports Editor After losing six of seven the Redwood Valley boys basketball team will head into the postseason on a three-game winning streak following victories over Fairmont, Springfield and Blue Earth Area to end the regular season. Head Coach Aaron Lindahl’s Cardinals (12-14) will be the number five seed in the upcoming Section 3AA-South playoffs and will open with a tough first round opponent in Luverne (13-10).

Arrows take down Cards in Sub-Section

The Redwood Valley girls basketball team wrapped up its season with a 58-35 loss to second-seeded Pipestone Area Saturday in Section 3AA-South quarterfinal action. The Cardinals (917) entered the postseason playing well, having won four of five, but a good Arrow squad made it threefor- three against the Cards this season and will move on to semifinal action.

Frank reaches 1,000 point milestone in Rabbit victory

It was a memorable night for Wabasso senior Kelsey Frank as she recorded her 1,000th career point in the Rabbits dominating 65-41 win over Dawson/Boyd. The Rabbits (1114) led 35-17 at the half and never looked back en route to the non-conference victory.

Cardinal wrestlers fall to Eagles in Section action

The Redwood Valley wrestlers wrapped up the team portion of their season with a 42-25 loss to New Ulm Area in the opening round of Section 3AA team wrestling action. Dawson/Boyd-LQPV -Montevideo UNITED would go on to top Marshall 37-22 for the Section 3AA title and will now move on to the State Tournament.

Cardinal boys hold off Fairmont

Scoring 22 points off of Fairmont turnovers the Redwood Valley boys basketbal team held off the host Cards 68-64 in a recent Big South Conference match-up. The Cardinals (1014) put an end to a four-game skid and gave themselves a chance to potentially slide into the fifth seed in the upcoming Section 3AA-South postseason tournament.
