CJ Theis receives chartered retirement planning counselor designation

CJ Theis a financial advisor with Legacy Financial Partners, a private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc. in Redwood Falls, MN has achieved the professional designation of Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor SM (CRPC) through The College of Financial Planning. Theis successfully completed the rigorous requirements that include course work and a series of examinations that cover pre-and post-retirement needs, asset management, estate planning and the entire retirement planning process using models and techniques from real client situations.

WALTER VALENTIN

Walter Valentin, 89, of Fairfax passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023, at his home in Fairfax. A private family service was held with interment in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Cairo Township, Renville County. Clergy Officiating: Reverend Matt Hausken. Walter Ferdinand Valentin was born on July 15, 1933, in Eden Township, Brown County. He was the son of William K. and Helene E. (Lerch) Valentin. On July 21, 1954, Walter entered active military service in the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on June 5, 1956, having achieved the rank of SP3(T). On July 9, 1960, Walter was united in marriage to Doris Panitzke at St. John Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Palmyra Township. This union was blessed with four children. He was also employed by Schweiss Bifold Doors in Hector, where he and Doris were grateful to be employed by such wonderful people. Walter and Doris shared 62 years of marriage. Walter was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax and the American Legion Post #308 in Franklin for 43 years. Walter enjoyed farming. He cherished the time he spent with his family. Walter enjoyed gardening and continued spending time on the farm helping out where he could. Walter passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at his home in Fairfax at the age of 89 years. Blessed be his memory. Walter is survived by his: wife, Doris Valentin of Fairfax; children, Kurt Valentin of Franklin, Pamie Zempel and her husband Dennis of Morgan, Dawn Schroedl and her husband Paul of Fairfax, and Paula Benson and her husband Eric of Franklin; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters; three brothers; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Smith, Wolner lead Eagles to Section title game

It was a memorable campaign on the ice this winter for the Redwood Valley duo of Michelle Smith and Tristyn Wolner. Thanks to a pairing with New Ulm, the duo helped lead the Eagles’ girls hockey team to the Section 3A title game, falling 4-0 to Big South champion Luverne.
