Build Back Better bill should be named Build Back Broke

The 2,465 page Build Back Better bill was filled with “pork.” The cost went from “zero dollars” to $3.5 trillion to over $5 trillion! Almost $80 billion would have gone to weaponizing the IRS to assist in looking at transactions in your account that were over $600, later raised to $10,000. There is also around $12 billion for electric cars, $1 trillion to turn government facilities into “green buildings,” new funding for gender identity issues and bias training, massively expanding federal tax dollars for abortions without the Hyde amendment protections, while limiting seniors’ access to new cures and treatments by imposing socialist price controls on prescription drugs, subsidizing union members’ dues and on and on….

Lady Cards drop 2 in invite

The Redwood Valley girls basketball team went 0-2 at the recent Willmar Holiday Invitational. The Cardinals fell 57-20 to Willmar and 65-33 to Central MN Christian in nonconference action.

Winter truck load hikes to begin

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Winter load increases will begin at 12:01 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, on unrestricted state highways in the metro, southeast and south frost zones. Frost zones and restricted routes can be found on the Minnesota Department of Transportation load limits map.

The other side of the wire

The thin gray wire, all fence like, extended the full length of the woods. No doubt it had purpose by either keeping something in or others out. Perhaps it offered safety on each side of it, depending upon which side of the fence you were on so-to-speak. Truth is, I’d never gone near it nor paid much attention to it until today.

Research shows rain drops during 2021 growing season

Lamberton, Minn. – 2021 was a year of limited precipitation during the growing season at the University of Minnesota Southwest Research and Outreach Center near Lamberton. Total annual precipitation for 2021 was 23.66 inches. This was a departure of minus 3.70 inches from the historic average. The year’s largest rain event was on August 29 with 2.17 inches recorded. There was only 2.33 inches of precipitation recorded for the period of June 1 to August 22 resulting in a severe shortage of soil moisture available for crop growth. The normal precipitation for this same period is 10.01 inches. Above normal precipitation from the middle of August to the end of September allowed for a recharge in soil moisture.
