DNR: Stay sober, ride smart on snowmobiles

Snowmobile trail conditions vary throughout Minnesota but, in areas where there’s good snow, riders have been getting out with gusto. Snowmobile tracks are common sights in road ditches, on trails and atop the ice. This year’s busy start to the riding season continues a surge in recent years of people riding snowmobiles to enjoy Minnesota’s outdoors.

FFA teams qualify for state

On Monday, Jan. 10, Redwood Valley FFA members took on the freezing cold weather and traveled to Ridgewater College for another day of regional contests.

An egotist has I trouble

Jim Tunney, the dean of National Football League referees, wrote a blog recently that caught my eye. He mentioned how when one NFL defensive player intercepts a pass, most of the defensive unit on the field runs to an end zone for a photo op. Enjoying getting old(er)

Happy Birthday to me! This is my birthday week – I turn 67 Friday. Now, I’m not saying this just to get presents (but I’ll be home if you need to deliver something.) I’m just pointing out that I am happy to be getting old-ish.

Seeing through the eyes of faith

On the wall of my member’s home that I was visiting last week were graduation pictures of their kids. Whenever I read the Apostle Paul’s words to the Ephesians in chapter 2, that image comes to my mind. I imagine that God has my picture on his wall or in his wallet. Verse 6 says, “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.” (Eph 2:6 NIV). However, if you look closer at that passage, it says more than that. It actually says that God sees US seated with him, not just our picture. What a mind-boggling thought. God sees us in the future, but speaks of it as already done in the past.

It’s time for a hometown visit

It was time for a hometown visit. Soon the snow would fly and the winter weather would stop me in my tracks and as the route home hadn’t been traveled for some time, now was the time.
