Cardinal netters top Albert Lea

The Redwood Valley tennis team topped Albert Lea in a non-conference triangular meet held Saturday, April 30. In a meet that featured five doubles matches, the Cards got a 6-1, 6-1 win by Andrew Muetzel and Drew Lundeen.

Gordon “Gordy” Melvin Johnson

Gordon “Gordy” Melvin Johnson of Franklin died at age 92 on April 12, 2022. Gordy was born on 10/22/1929. He was predeceased by father John Johnson and mother Hilda (Kulberg) Johnson, brother J.S. Edwin “Eddie” (Janie) Johnson, Russell “Buzz” (Betty) Johnson, and sister Bernice Christenson. Survived by his wife Helen (Landgraff) Johnson, step-son Cory (Kim) Schlechter, two step-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Gordy was an Army veteran and farmed in Franklin. He enjoyed coffee and sweets, golfing, bowling, and fishing. Gordy had an ultimate passion for sports. He was fond of recounting stories reminiscing with laughter and good company. He will be dearly missed by his countless other family members, friends, and acquaintances. A private burial service for close family members will be held at Swedlanda Lutheran Church in Hector.

Jeffrey Arlo Zimmer

Jeffrey Arlo Zimmer, 63, of Granite Falls passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022. He was born February 1, 1959 in Granite Falls to Arlo and Donna (Leupke) Zimmer. He was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Echo. He attended kindergarten through 12th grade in Echo, graduating in 1977. During high school, he participated in football, basketball, and FFA. He also participated in 4-H and his church youth group and was the last student to walk across the stage at his high graduation ceremony at Echo High School which later became E.C.H.O Charter School.

Michael Ringeisen

Michael Ringeisen, 58, died April 8, 2022 at the River Valley Care Center in his hometown of Redwood Falls after a prolonged illness associated with the mechanical heart valve he received in 2007. A memorial service for friends and family will be on Thursday, June 16 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church (4 p.m. visitation, 5 p.m. service) followed by refreshments. Mike was born on August 16, 1963 in Minneapolis to Gina and Michael Ringeisen. He gained three technical degrees in Fluid Power, Robotics & Electronic and had a successful career as an Electronics Technician.

Richard “Richie” Goblirsch

Richard “Richie” Goblirsch, 72, of Redwood Falls passed away at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan on Sunday, May 1, 2022. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2022 with a Parish Prayer Service at 4 p.m., all at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Visitation will continue from 10 until 11 a.m. on Friday. Burial will follow at St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery.

Betsy Snyder elected to leadership position with Statewide Clerk’s Association

Betsy Snyder, Clerk/Treasurer for the City of Milroy, MN has been elected as President for the Municipal Clerks & Finance Officers Association of Minnesota (MCFOA) for 2022-2023. The election was held during the Association’s Annual meeting on March 24, 2021. Snyder has served the MCFOA on several different committees since 2015, as Region V Director from 2015-2019, as Treasurer in 2019-2020 and as Secretary in 2020-2021 and Vice President in 2021-2022.

Hwy 19 Redwood Falls bridge project start date moved to May 16

The start date for the Highway 19 bridge repair project in Redwood Falls has been moved to Monday, May 16 as the contractor was recently made aware of delays in receiving multiple materials. The construction completion date hasn’t changed and is still scheduled for September 2.

Dredging of Lake Redwood has begun

Since early October 2021, a considerable amount of preparation has taken place for the dredging effort of Lake Redwood. Over 23,000 feet of black, 18-inch diameter pipeline has -been placed to transport to the dredged -material to the dewatering pond north of the city.

April 5th grade Cardinals of the Month

Why was Carissa nominated for Cardinal of the Month? Carissa is a very hard worker who always does her best. She's not afraid to raise her hand and contribute to class discussions with thoughts that help us all learn. She is a sweet, calm presence who you can count on for a smile. Carissa is a joy to have in class.

April 6th grade Cardinals of the Month

Why was Dante nominated for Cardinal of the Month? Dante is a fantastic student who works hard every day. He has such a positive energy that he brings to class. We are so lucky to have Dante at RVMS as he makes it a better place.
